NEC Platforms joins Connectivity Standards Alliance, a standards organization that established Matter, an international standard for smart homes

NEC Platforms, Ltd. (NEC Platforms) joined the Connectivity Standards Alliance, a standards organization that established Matter (*1), an international standard in the smart home field, as a Participant member (*2) on December 4th, 2024.
NEC Platforms is involved in the business of home gateways for telecommunications carriers and routers for general households, which play a central role in smart home networks that support efficient living through the use of IoT and AI technologies. NEC Platforms also provides value to many businesses and users through NetMeister, a service that enables monitoring and control of network devices from the cloud, kitting and delivery at its own factories in Japan, and effective use of recycled resources from used products. NEC Platforms has decided to join the Alliance because of the high affinity of its services with Matter, an international standard for understanding and controlling the status of smart home appliances and IoT devices.
In addition, NEC Platforms also joined the LIVING TECH Association, an organization that promotes smart homes in Japan, as a member company on November 29th, 2024. Taking the opportunity of joining the Alliance and the LIVING TECH Association, NEC Platforms aims to contribute to the expansion and development of the smart home market by promoting collaboration through partnerships with various stakeholders.

About Connectivity Standards Alliance
The Alliance is an organization dedicated to developing standards for smart home interoperability. About 600 companies from around the world are participating (as of the end of November 2024) to promote the development and collaboration of Matter, an international standard for smart home interoperability of smart appliances and IoT devices.
